Commentary in one word: serviceable.

I went to this movie with family members and carried low expectations.

While I hadn’t read anything specific about it before seeing the movie (which is my habit), I had a sense that responses were less than enthusiastic and box office lower than projected.

In the interest of full disclosure, I’ve seen all of the Star Wars films and enjoyed most of them but am not particularly knowledgable about the universe (though I carry a soft spot for Yoda).

The first half of the movie is a bit slow and a too visually dark to be very enjoyable to me, but the second half picked up considerably.

All in all, I enjoyed it more than I expected and welcome insights and perspectives from fans who know the franchise better than I do.
