Guy Ritchie (best known for Snatch and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels) breathes a little life into the Sherlock Holmes franchise. Robert Downey, Jr. makes an interesting Holmes (when isn’t he interesting to watch onscreen?), and Jude Law makes a good Dr. Watson. I thought the film was entertaining while viewing but not terribly memorable afterward. I have a bit of trouble with the balance of physicality to reason in this characterization of Holmes – a bit less of the former and a bit more of the latter would have been a better mix for me.
