Jason Reitman

The keynote speaker for the Reynolda Film Festival, Jason Reitman, is perfect for a college campus.  His films – to date those are Thank You For Smoking, Juno, and Up In The Air – resonate with young audiences, which is not terribly surprising since he was born in 1977 and shares many cultural references with them.

But, just as Reitman’s films have broader appeal than that demo (I like all of them so far!), the writer-director himself is an accomplished speaker, appropriately self-effacing, gracious, funny, and charming.

It’s refreshing for a famous person, especially one who grew up with a celebrity parent, to seem so genuinely nice.

Talented, smart, and nice…the only thing I could find fault with is that he’s never seen the best television show ever:  The Wire.  I know this because someone asked him during the Q & A what he thinks of the HBO series.  No, I didn’t ask the question!
