Integrating Production and Critical Media Studies

During the Teachers, Teaching, and Media Conference at Wake Forest University March 2-4, 2017, I will participate on a panel with my colleagues Molly Keener and Hu Womack to present a case study demonstrating how to integrate a production element into a critical media studies course using electronic publishing technology.

In courses on The Wire, Deadwood, and contemporary sitcoms, students engage with the content area, develop original scholarly essays, participate in peer review, learn the fundamentals of copyright regulations, secure screen captures to accompany their essays, and compile indexing terms as part of the process leading up to the publication of an anthology.
