Tomorrow is the day! I had a chance to preview the new podcast AMERICA 2.0 and hope you’ll give it a listen when episode one is released September 19th.

The series has been described as “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington meets The West Wing,” and I could use a little idealism right about now.

I have friends who talk about seeking the comfort of binge watching The West Wing and pretending that Jed Bartlet is our president.

Trust me, I get the allure of that. It’s the media version of chicken soup or macaroni and cheese or whatever you like to eat while wearing sweats and comfy slippers with your feet propped up as you pretend the world outside your door is warm and fuzzy instead of polarized and getting worse.

The first episode of AMERICA 2.0 introduces the characters and gets the story rolling–idealistic Congressman has a big idea–and I’m looking forward to picking up next week to see where this big idea will take Seth McGuire (Patrick J. Adams), who leads an all-star cast as the episodes unfold.

Check out the trailer and additional cast information on the AMERICA 2.0  website. There is an old-timey sound to the series (down to the co-creators reading ads for the series sponsors) that is refreshingly retro.

My assessment so far? The series is fun…and hopeful…and sincere.

Frankly, I can use a lot more of all of those things on the political scene. How about you?
